    You should have your dispute response back if you count 42 days from the date of your signed return receipt from one of the credit reporting agencies .

    Send them a copy of your original dispute letter and the copy of the certified mail return receipt, along with the information they are requesting. Make sure to send it by certified mail, return receipt again.

    Disregard this letter. The credit reporting agency gives you this information so you have the addresses with creditors in dispute. Do not contact creditors in the middle of a dispute process.

  • 4. I received a letter from the credit reporting agency stating: "If you are using a credit repair agency and you think they are charging too much you can use our forms to dispute your credit. They want you to use their forms so there is no accountability and most likely your dispute will end up being discarded." What should I do?

    Disregard this letter and wait for your dispute response.

  • 5. I received a letter from the credit reporting agency stating they received my dispute from a third party and they want more information. What should I do?

    Send a copy of your original dispute letter along with a letter stating: "I wrote this letter myself on my home computer. I want you to produce this third party you indicate has sent my dispute. This would be a neat trick since I did the letter myself Now complete this dispute or face violation of my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Attached you will find a copy of my social security number, driver's license and utility bill. This is more than enough information to prove my identity."
